Pitch Wars: Bring it on!

22 Jan

This year I am participating in an industry event dubbed Pitch Wars. It’s where agented authors, industry interns, and editors team up with aspiring writers to polish up their manuscripts and pitches to present to agents.

I am one of the agents taking part, and I am very much looking forward to reading through all of the pitches tomorrow. The only thing I know for certain, is that the aspiring writers will be presenting the agents with a three sentence pitch + the first 250 of their manuscript. If any of them catch my fancy, I can make a request on said work.

No matter what the outcome, I imagine it will be a fun event!

In other news, Canada Reads will soon be upon us. I’ll be attending the February 12th (Day 2) live debate as an audience member, and am very much looking forward to it. I must admit, I am torn between two titles. I think both are worthy of winning, and both have a special place in my heart for various reasons. I will be thrilled if either of them takes the grand title, but will certainly be conflicted if they end up as the last two books duking it out!

If you are in the Toronto area and wish to attend one of the live debates, I believe there are still tickets available. Email canadareads@cbc.ca, and request a ticket.
